Ulziibat Enkhtur

Ulziibat Enkhtur is a multidisciplinary Mongolian artist whose practice spans contemporary dance, performance art, visual art, installation, and storytelling. A member of the Neg-Uudel Mongolian Performance Art Group—a trio dedicated to fusing Mongolian long song, land art, installation, and dance—Ulziibat Enkhtur also works independently as a freelance artist.

Born and raised in the Mongolian steppes, she has been based in Switzerland since 2007 and holds a degree in anthropology and civilization studies. Her background has deeply informed her work, which often bridges nomadic traditions and contemporary expression. Since 2007, she has actively engaged with 18 NGOs and 12 religious communities in Mongolia, gaining insights into the diverse cultural and social landscapes of her homeland.

In 2010, she founded Mongolian Handicrafts, a Swiss-based brand that promotes sustainable design in collaboration with felt-making cooperatives and yak wool producers from Mongolia. Through this initiative, she has developed the preservation and international visibility of nomadic craftsmanship.

E. Ulziibat is also a dedicated mentor and cultural organizer, helping emerging artists and artisans with exhibition planning, portfolio development, and international exposure.

Her storytelling practice includes three Mongolian-language books and a French-language children’s book, Yaki and His Friends, which she co-authored. Her performances—often integrating dance, narrative, and traditional elements—have featured at ethnic festivals and cultural events across Mongolia and Switzerland.

She is the founder of the Essence Performance Art Group, a nomadic collective of Swiss and Mongolian artists dedicated to site-responsive performances in remote natural environments—steppes, mountains, deserts, and seas—exploring the raw connection between the body, place, and the Earth.

Each spring, Enkhtur presents a new self-choreographed dance performance and is an active member of the Coïncidanse Dance School and Performance Art Community. She also contributes to the Blue Sun Contemporary Art Center of Mongolia as a communication assistant and art reviewer, supporting the visibility of contemporary Mongolian artists both locally and abroad.

Currently, she works as a freelance artist and art agent at the OIR Art Hub, fostering local and international artistic collaboration and cross-cultural exchange through performance, visual arts, and community engagement.
